H2-TRAINER JUNIOR, EXPERIMENTS ON HYDROGEN TECHNOLOGY

EXPERIMENT 1

Measuring the volume Ratio of the Gases Produced:

Information:

During an electrolysis, the gases oxygen and hydrogen are produced from liquid water. In this experiment, the ratio between the produced gas volumes shall be examined.

EXPERIMENT 2

Measuring the Gas Volumes Produced per Time Unit in Relation to the Current:

Information:

In an electrolysis, the gas volumes produced per time unit depend on the current. This relation is described by Faraday’s 1st law. Faraday’s 2nd law concerns the liberation of different substances. Both laws are examined in this experiment.

EXPERIMENT 3

Determining the Energy and Faraday Efficiency Factors of the Electrolyser

Information:

Electric current is needed for the electrolytic breakdown of water into hydrogen and oxygen. The energy and Faraday efficiency factors or the electrolyser can be calculated via the gas volume produced and the amount of current used.

EXPERIMENT 4

Determining the Current-Voltage Characteristic Curve of the Electrolyser

Information:

The electric properties of the electrolyser can be seen best when examining the current-voltage characteristic curve. It will be examined more closely in this experiment.

EXPERIMENT 5

Determining the Energy and Faraday Efficient Factors of the Fuel Cell

Information:

A fuel cell converts the chemical energy of the hydrogen and the oxygen into useful energy. The energy and Faraday efficient factors will be calculated via the gas volume consumed and the current yielded in this experiment.

EXPERIMENT 6

Determing the Voltage-Current Characteristic Curve of the Fuel Cell

Information:

The Voltage-current characteristic curve is an important characteristic of current-producing systems. In this experiment, the characteristic curve of the fuel cell is examined and related to the output curve of the fuel cell.

EXPERIMENT 7

Operation of the Electrolyser with Solar Cells

Information:

Hydrogen technology becomes particularly interesting if regenerative energy sources such as solar energy are used to produce hydrogen. In this experiment, the operation of the electrolyser in conjuction with solar cells will be examined.

Note: This Experiment requires the photovoltaic experimenting system SOLARTRAINER junior.

EXPERIMENT 8

Operation of the Electrolyser with a Wind Energy Unit

Information:

Next to solar energy, wind is also a suitable energy source for the production of hydrogen. In this experiment, the operation of an electrolyser with a wind energy unit is examined.

Note: This experiment requires the experimenting system WINDTTRAINER junior.
